Cookie Policy

What cookies and similar technologies we use on blitztechelectronics.co.zw and blitztechelectronics.com, and how you can control them.

Last updated: 2026-05-16

This Cookie Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and explains, in plain language, what cookies and similar tracking technologies BlitzTech Electronics (Private) Limited uses on its websites, why we use them, and the choices you have. It is published in accordance with the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07] (Act No. 5 of 2021) of Zimbabwe and the guidance issued by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ).

1. What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, phone or tablet) when you visit. Cookies allow the site to remember information about your visit, such as your preferred language, items in your shopping basket, or whether you are logged in. We also use similar technologies including local storage, tracking pixels, and tags; for simplicity we refer to all of these as "cookies" in this policy.

2. The cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories, in line with international practice and POTRAZ guidance:

a. Strictly necessary cookies

Required for the Website to function. Without them, you cannot log in, place an order, or move securely between pages. They do not need your consent.

  • sessionid — keeps you logged in (Django session, first-party, expires when you close your browser or after 14 days).
  • csrftoken — protects forms from cross-site request forgery (first-party, expires after 1 year).
  • cookie_consent — records your choice on the cookie banner so we do not ask again (first-party, expires after 6 months).

b. Functional cookies

Improve your experience by remembering preferences. Set only after you accept.

  • currency — remembers your preferred display currency (USD or ZWG).
  • recent_views — powers the "recently viewed" list on product pages (local storage, never leaves your device).

c. Analytics cookies

Help us understand which pages are popular, where visitors come from, and how our Website performs. Set only after you accept.

  • Google Analytics 4 — cookies _ga, _ga_* (expire after 13 months); IP addresses are anonymised before storage. Browser opt-out.
  • Google Tag Manager. GTM itself does not set cookies, but it loads other tags (such as GA4 and the Meta Pixel) only when you have consented to that category.

d. Marketing cookies

Used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to show you relevant ads on Meta-owned platforms (Facebook, Instagram). Set only after you accept.

3. Error monitoring

We use Sentry to detect and fix errors on the Website. Sentry receives a brief technical fingerprint of the failed request (URL, browser, anonymised user identifier where available) but does not set tracking cookies and does not profile your behaviour. This is treated as a legitimate-interests activity necessary for keeping the Website secure and reliable.

4. Your choices

The first time you visit our Website you will see a cookie banner that lets you accept all categories, reject all non-essential categories, or set your preferences by category. You can change your mind at any time by:

  • Clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page;
  • Clearing cookies in your browser, which will cause the banner to be shown again on your next visit;
  • Using your browser's built-in privacy controls to block third-party cookies or activate "Do Not Track";
  • Using the analytics-vendor opt-outs linked in Section 2.

5. How long cookies stay on your device

Session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for the period stated for each cookie (typically between 6 and 13 months) unless you delete them sooner. We do not use any persistent cookie with a lifetime longer than 24 months.

6. Cookies and your rights

Cookies that identify you (directly or by combination with other information) are personal data under the Cyber and Data Protection Act. The rights set out in Section 8 of our Privacy Policy — access, rectification, erasure, objection, withdrawal of consent and the right to complain to POTRAZ — therefore apply equally to cookies.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when our use of cookies changes — for example when we add or remove an analytics partner. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version; we will re-prompt the cookie banner when changes materially expand the categories we use.
