On 27 March 2026, the 2025-26 cycle of the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Zimbabwe came to Westridge Primary School. **Theme: Agriculture and Food Security.** Fifty teams. Two hundred attendees. Ages 10 to 18. One mission: prove that robotics built by African youth can address African food-security challenges.
BlitzTech's role grew substantially this cycle. We co-organised the event end-to-end alongside Omorfo Tech Labs:
- Designed and fabricated the competition gaming boards used on event day
- Designed the competition kits, and supplied practice kits to more than half the teams
- Handled venue logistics, transportation, and event-day setup
- Provided mentorship through Simon Muzariri (Omorfo) and Millicent Kamba (BlitzTech)
- Coordinated event advertising across LinkedIn, Facebook, and partner channels
**The judges:** Yolanda Chibaya and Amanda Chiwanza.
**The winners:**
- Junior division: **RoboWolves**
- Senior division: **Upskill Academy Robotics Club**
Both teams qualified for the Grand Finale at the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva.
**The partners who made it possible:** Harare Institute of Technology (supporting institution), Westridge Primary and Secondary (host venue), TME Education, Fully Enrich, Troth Travel and Tours, RIMA Africa, the Digital Skills for Africa Youth Initiative (DISAYI), and the Prevail Group of Companies.
What this cycle proved is that the Zimbabwe robotics community has the appetite, the talent, and the institutional support to host events at scale. Fifty teams in a single primary school. Two hundred attendees. Real engineering problems. Real solutions. Real qualifiers for Geneva.
